I'm visiting my family, and I was catching up on internet after two days offline... and I realized things were actually quiet. So I decided to work on a story.

Seven minutes later, my parents have the TV on.

Every time. This happens every single time. I should have known.

Will be going offline soon for two days of holiday (last days of Passover) and... wow. What a time to be offline.

(Not everyone in my family is as strict as I am. I'll still be getting my news indirectly. But imagine what it'll be like for those in settings where no one is accessing technology!)

The world might end tonight but I just got a short story acceptance...

So that's how my day is going.

At the moment, the story acceptance feels more real than the world ending. So there's that...

Oh this is great: there’s now an #Artemis II Lunar Flyby Gallery on the NASA images site: www.nasa.gov/gallery/lunar-flyby/ (thx @dpmanchee.bsky.social for pointing it out)

Hugo nominations close tomorrow morning. I had one story out last year, published at @smallwondersmag.com, and I'd love if you'd consider it:

I think this may be the first time I've nominated short fiction and poetry. I've been trying to read more of both, so it felt good to be able to add some of those to my ballot.

Hugo nominations accomplished!

(Unless, of course, something else catches my eye between now and the deadline...)

Was feeling too achy to write so I got ready for bed early. Then, sat down to write a bit anyway. An hour later... I have the first draft of a short story.

Not going to bed early. But I think that's okay.

Small Wonders has published two of my stories, so it should be no surprise that I like what they publish. I've enjoyed both their fiction and poetry. And because they focus on flash, every story is a quick read!

Just found out the reprint I sold to @podcastle.org came out at the end of January. I'm excited to listen to it! And you can listen to it also. Find it here:

The novel is done. The novel is DONE.

First draft of the untitled bird book novel, written from November 1, 2025 to today, March 20, 2026. Total word count: 175,615.

I am feeling content and satisfied... and also, I have no idea what to work on next.

Placed an online order. I keep hearing my package is on the way... which is funny, because it arrived on Monday.

Thing is, the tracking number on the package doesn't match the tracking number on the order. (Both are USPS tracking numbers.) And I have no idea how that would have happened.

(In case it wasn't clear, I'm definitely into this poem. I'm glad it's on the ballot!)

Today's poetry reading is for Nebula voting. I just read The World to Come by @jenniferhudak.bsky.social and wow was I not expecting such an intensely Jewish poem. There were all these bits of it I connected to on a personal level. It's so refreshing to find bits of myself in a poem like that.

And Buffalo Hunter Hunter is on its way to that same NYPL branch. (I'm #32 for that one in Brookyn - of 54 copies. But the voting deadline is too tight.)

I have two other books waiting for me at my local library though - and one in transit.

I placed some library holds after the Nebulas finalists were announced. Turns out Katabasis is a popular book.

Brooklyn Public Library: You are #230 on the hold list. We have 67 copies.

NY Public Library: Your hold is ready for pickup.

Hooray for having more than one library card!

My local grocery store has boxes of matzoh on a random shelf in the bread aisle. And I can't decide whether this is perfect placement or horribly wrong.

But... but what if I've read all of these already? (Okay, okay. So there's one on the list I haven't read... But still.)

Anyway, having read nearly all of these, I can confirm that @didichanoch.bsky.social has put together an excellent list of SFF books by trans authors.

I went online to order a copy of Butterfly Effects by @seananmcguire.bsky.social, and while I had the credit card out, I couldn't just order one book. So I also ordered books by @justinkey.bsky.social and Moniquill Blackgoose.
