You can now eat 'some fish' caught in New York's Hudson River for the first time in 50 years

Grew up in a town on the Hudson. Wouldn’t eat a fish from the river then and probably won’t now.

Personally, I'd try to find out more info, such as which species can be eaten and how often. Article is a little vague on details, but NY Health Dept. should have more specifics.
Signed,
Guy who used to do analysis for PCBs in wildlife.

England kinda got trashed, and then the East Coast of The United States got way over developed as well and now the West Coast of the United States is struggling. Here we are, using up the world.

Is it because they are actually less toxic, or because the Trump-Project 2025 EPA changed the standard so they are no longer labeled toxic? Asking as a Pisces.

Charlotte, the Hudson River water spider, finding all her hard work weaving “some fish” was completely unnecessary.

I'll let the people who don't wash their meat have that one, they don't care.

I say we let the people who want to do it, do it. Don't save them. They don't want to be saved.

Don’t worry folks - as we continue to alienate ourselves from all outside resources and food sources, our leaders are hard at work, lowering standards, to make us….what was it - oh yea healthy and great again.

I was 12 when I first visited NYC during the Bicentennial. I remember seeing a “Hudson River whitefish” float by.🫣

Hi. I am from Syracuse, NY.
You know, the city to your Northwest with the lake that was a superfund site?

They talked about how clean it was now.

They just had samples test positive for higher levels of Mercury than some parts of the lake had before cleanup.

So. Yeah. You first.

Never in a million years! Jack Welch was the Devil & dumped PCBs in the Housatonic River, Hudson River, Massachusetts forests, & even land in Pittsfield, Mass that GE subsequently DONATED as an elementary school building site (Allengate). All poisoned forever with PCBs. FOREVER. He was a mthrfckr.

Give it a year or two after Trump and the GOP roll back all environmental regulations. They’re gutting the Clean Water and Air Act.
