What does this constant raking-over of how people intend to vote achieve, when the next GE is most likely 3.5 years off? It probably only benefits Reform to be continually talked-up, and normalised, since many voters are known to follow the 'winner'.

That's not what's happening at all. It's not an analysis of the past, it's an analysis of the current Labour strategy - to go after Reform voters by appeasing racism and encouraging anti-immigrant feeling - and demonstrate it's fundamental failure.

We need Labour to change strategy, right now.

Putting their appalling decisions down to tactical stupidity may do them a disservice. Maybe they are this right wing from conviction. They have zero regard for Lab Party democracy (their lies to get Starmer in) why should we believe they care about Lab at all rather than really want the policies

You may be right, but I’ve met a fair few people who seriously believe the kind of thing McSweeney espouses. And yes, they’re actually right wing, but believe they’re left wing, and yes, they’re stupid.

If the Parliamentary Labour Party wises up to this (they may already have done so) they can apply pressure to the government. They've already forced U-turns on several policies, why not on strategy? It's their seats at risk from the Greens & Lib Dems.
