Especially when it comes to like Japanese things. Like I'm definitely like a weeb/ otaku but in like a autistic special interest way. So I love just learning about even the most mundane shit about Japanese culture and seeing just how much of that gets reflected in media

As a kid, the Tanooki Leaf from Mario 3 was always something that boggled my mind.

You pick up a leaf
it gives you a racoon tail
That makes you fly.
And the suit can also turn into a statue.

So much silly, random stuff that made no sense unless you are familiar with Japanese folklore xD

When I went to a Casino for the first time, I was shocked to learn slot machines were "random" and not 3 individual reels you stop on command like in video-game bonus rounds.
Then I went to Japan and found they're all like that there.
