I do feel this is less tied to the Internet and more into what capitalism has done to our societies.

As you rightly point out: it's not about coming back to some mythical golden age Internet

But you're right that it has degraded over the past decades, and even more rapidly in just the past few years.

It is my belief (but therefore I totally can be absolutely wrong, it's a belief!!!) that as Internet intertwined more with real life, it also became more susceptible to IRL culture/stuff

And so, while some people have theorized how Internet has invaded/contaminated real life, I'd posit the reverse it's true also actually!!!!

Platforms and our current web didn't came out of nowhere, but from a specific branch of capitalism evolving and being (I feel) at the heart of our issues.
