was gonna say, i’ve scrolled 4chan a couple of times bc i knew it was the meme capital of the internet but a lot of it was so vile that the site users’ fictions about themselves fell apart for me immediately. enormously off-putting site even back then.

god I'm so sorry, people get really awful and brave behind their screens. there is a profound sadness in me that sites like that exist and some of the sweetest coolest people I know have threads there just for existing. :'(

Unfortunate. My early internet experience was shaped by the imageboard culture of 2008-2012, up to and including having been groomed by adults into ERP over IRC among other things. To this day I still pay for the consequences of that past even if I'm no longer the person I was back then.

As for the farms, I consider that posting there immediately invalidates the social contract, you are no longer human in my eyes. I have however "been on" there in a sense, that sense being my full deadname showing up on the front page by virtue of a very aggressive harassment campaign.

I frequented /v/ for a little while but the problem is I actually just wanted to talk about games and as people there proved themselves to be shittier and shittier (this was a year or so before gamergate) I just quit it. Place sucks, it does bad things to people's brains and I'm lucky I quit quickly

Only to make sure my publicly shared surgery recovery photos from Reddit didn’t end up on there after some TERF cross posted them to a hate subreddit and then to their website. 4Chan was already known as the Nazi website when I was in high school, so I avoided that 😅

Also, to be clear, I think there’s a wide spectrum of ways people were on 4chan and what that means and that it isn’t the indictment of morality people think it is. More, I think everyone deserves the opportunity to make the types of mistakes that make them better people for it.

First time we saw the KF forums they were celebrating the death of one of our community members. So yea, they can fuck off into the sun. Never been to 4chan, no interest in whatever they've got going on (and people have tried to convince us to join)
