If you were surprised by this, update your analysis and thinking and don’t be taken off guard again. We need struggle grounded in revolutionary scientific socialism.

It was never going to be that easy. A Mayor's Office running a socialist agenda, sooner or later, would collide with capitalism running everything else around him.

Unfortunately, real beneficial change will have to be imposed, in a top-down fashion that'll piss off a lot of people.

We won't be able to vote in a revolution, but what if we voted in some shitposters to scream about it until folks get the idea

the function of electing socialism is to push for socialism even if you lose in the system. it drives me absolutely insane that prominent “socialist” politicians in america immediately give up on pushing for it. what the fuck is the point of being a socialist if schools and libraries are defunded?

Dr. Allende is a great example what 'electing socialism' finally ends in.

the fact that america has never had a prominent politician in power as to the left as FDR is an indictment on american socialists and electoralism as a whole. pathetic and cowardly behavior from mamdani

The US population is finally catching on that Democrats aren't left of anything except Nazis. Now we gotta wait another few decades while they figure out that opportunistic parasites dressed as socialists are just as useless for addressing the problems we face.

I think it’s less about “opportunistic parasites dressed as socialists” (though I don’t believe Mamdani is a real socialist either) but more that electing individual socialists isn’t going to change the system, whether they’re real socialists or not. Operating within the system will never cut it.

*butterfly meme, but it's Americans and a politician who meets some bare minimum level of acceptability for public service* Is this socialism?
