I debunked the original headlines about these school guidelines when they first came out a couple of weeks ago.

But then the Daily Mail pushed this on Facebook over the Easter weekend, so I felt the need to address that too!

Imagine writing this stuff and coming home at night - how’d you sleep? It’s shameful.

And if a teacher speaks out against this kind of journalism, Sarah Vine is the first person to howl about left wing bias in education and calls for them to be sacked.

As always, if they really are the good guys, why must they lie as easily as they breathe? If the DM really was about informing people, why are they constantly publishing this nonsense? And why are they NEVER held to account over it? Our media is completely broken in this country.

I'm puzzled.

7 years in Catholic primary school.

Religious assembly twice every school day.

Full mass twice a week.

Force fed religion every lesson. Jesus on a cross on the wall in every classroom (usually more than one) & iconography everywhere.

Never once did I take home a picture of Jesus.

As I understand it, they can draw pictures of Jesus in school but then aren't allowed to take them home? Even in Islam Jesus is a revered prophet and the Messiah, absolutely a hate/divisive piece by the mail

Yeah - the headline is BS.

They can draw pictures are of Jesus AND take them home if they want!

Being the Daily Mail, they’re also unfamiliar with the use of English. Saying you would ‘plaster’ a picture of Jesus ‘across’ a fridge door is an odd way to say ‘stick it on the fridge’. It implies that it’s a massive picture that takes up most of the door.

TL: DR

There is nothing in the guidelines (and they are ONLY guidelines) that bans any child from bringing home a picture of Jesus!

There is nothing that prevents a child from drawing a picture of Jesus.

And there really, really is nothing in the guidelines that prevent:

✝️ Wonky pictures of baby Jesus

💃 Dancing

🎊Rowdy birthday parties (since when did they happen at school?!)
