I thought I didn't like mushrooms until I started chopping them *super fine* and frying them up with stuff. Turns out I like the flavor and just don't like the texture.

I can't help you with your onion problem, except maybe say try chopping them super fine as well. I fuckin love onions. I'm pretty sure it's illegal for italian people to not like onions.
