1. It takes an army of folks to make sure that what they're getting down to is cold, hard facts. The evidence, to me, looks pretty unshakable.

2. It started with victims willing to go on record, who also needed to be willing to stick all the way thru the process, which is painful and repetitive

Additionally, we're talking about extremely fucked behavior from a progressive candidate who apparently, now we are learning, had a reputation for being (and I'm putting this lightly) a fucking prick groomer of interns, and was powerful enough to ensure silence and/or complicity for years. YEARS.

Who says he's a progressive, Eric Swalwell?

Echoes of Bill Clinton? As a society, what do we do with these men? I mean their individual spouses can choose to forgive and move on, but the rest of the world should shun the shit out of the whole power dynamic grooming behavior by these *alpha* fails. And prosecute all criminal violations.

The enablement that helped ensure he got away with it for so long is making me just as furious. There would've been low level staff who lacked the power to do much apart from tell those above them, but those higher up folks would have had the power to do something about it.

Can we not call him progressive?

He's just another run-of-the-mill shitlib.

Did I miss some progressive positions he has?

When you're taking on someone with that kind of pull and leverage, and you're asking these women to talk about their experiences on the record, you want to make sure that you're not dragging them needlessly into a punishing spotlight for nothing

That kind of work takes time and effort

Real question: why do victims of abuse have to go on the record, but anonymity is routinely granted to people in power to position themelves favorably or talk shit (like the big nyt piece about how trump took the US to war)

Three of the four survivors were granted anonymity in the CNN reporting. You can go “on record” while asking for anonymity

I routinely grant anonymity to my sources who go on record about workplace abuse and exploitation bc they worry about losing their jobs, as another example

feels like the timing of it is a bit suspect, no?

You are part of the reason people don't report abuse. I want you to know that. I want you to sit with that. I'm not saying you've ever hurt anyone. I'm saying your suspicion of motive is absolutely part of what holds people back from reporting. If you had any idea how hard it is to come forward...

Suspicious timing would be if he won the primary, and THEN this dropped.

But it's no secret he's awful. He was one of the Dems who helped pass a resolution thanking ICE for their service after they'd murdered and maimed people in his own state.

There is no point to name your rapist that won't have some asshole saying "why are you bringing this up now?"

Why do people keep saying that? Should they have waited until after he wins the primary? After he's in office?

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today."

You contribute to victims not reporting w/this BS. Stop it.
