Section 28 did immense harm to a generation of LGBTQ+ people. It allowed homophobia to flourish and left us to grow up with shame, scared and alone. It’s a big part of the reason why I didn’t transition until I was 38.

I was delighted when I learned that schools have LGBTQ groups now. Imagine the difference that might have made to me when I was younger.
And I’m horrified that Labour wants to go backwards.
