All that needed was 'anymore'. We have all but eradicated it in Western countries thanks to vaccines, just like we had eradicated measles and polio.

I have often wondered about cases of listeria when pregnant women are warned of the risks, but I've never known of anyone getting it.

Is it still circulating? Called something else? Eradicated my food hygiene? Big problem in some areas but I've just not come across? I've seen outbreaks of ebola, cholera, norovirus and salmonella in the news, but never listeria!

Maybe you're not paying enough attention.

I can't say I knew of all of these food poisoning outbreaks when they happened, but I was certainly aware of the larger ones that affected multiple states. And Listeria is the most common cause.

There are numerous food recalls a year in the US because of listeria contamination and often at least some people are sickened or worse.
