I’m reading about Edward I, a popular King with English racists who can read. His mother was French, of course and his wife was Spanish. Their son Alfonso died aged 10. So, but for that twist of fate, we would have had a half Spanish, quarter French King Alfonso in 1307.

You did, in fact, have a half Spanish, quarter French King, as Edward II was Alfonso's younger, full brother and he did take the throne.

D’oh. I hadn’t actually thought of that.
But it is amazing that we could have had a King called Alfonso.
