He looks happier. They mutilate the ears & tail for dig fighting. It's repugnant.

The origins of of chopping the tales & ears off is so the opponent dog couldn't get ahold of the ears & tail. It gave the other dog an advantage. Now people do it for the aesthetics. * I didn't just make that up. I had looked it up because it seemed pointless.

We adopted our doberman from a humane society and we believe she was from a fighting ring. One of her siblings had DNA dobe and in her lineage showed a show dog. I'm sure it does happen.

I know it's a huge argument in the dog world. We didn't want to inflict any unnecessary pain on our girl.
