I'm still digging myself out of financial holes created by an amazing healthcare system. For the forseeable future, the entire LS discography on Bandcamp is 75% off ($14 for 9 albums) if you want to help me out and get some riffs along the way.

The only way I really know how to conceptualize the ludicrous amounts of money the US spends on military is that we genuinely can't conceptualize it. There isn't a metaphor that doesn't devolve into something so abstract that we get around not knowing how to understand a number like 1.5 trillion.

Somewhere Hidetaka Miyazaki has sprung from his chair, eager to make an entire game around this being the very first living thing you see (and are forced to fight) in a dying world.

Many are saying this (and it's true).

Immolation.

Clair Obscur is so good. The new Immolation is so good. My friends are so good. My cat is so good. My friends cats (and dogs) are so good. The world still has good in it.

But most importantly. . .the world has. . .Clair Obscur and Immolation.

I wish time would stop for a little while so we could all just hug each other and take naps with our pets.

Today I was revisiting the #Dyssebeia release which is a fine slice of progressive death metal with melodic touches. Their guitarist played on the recent #Apolaustic release, and they have members also playing in #Stortregn. Check it out if you've overlooked it!

my rent is overdue, and so is the minimum i owe the hospital

if you can spare $1, it really does make a difference 🙏🏽

I don't care if this place isn't "growing," I'm here to see what my friends are up to, find cool art and music and movies, and that's largely it. This all reminds me when people think GDQ is "dying" because they raised 2.5 million one year and 2.8 the year before it.

Perpetual growth is a myth

I comfort watch Alien vs. Predator quite often. Years ago I got home at like 1am from the hospital, I ordered some ice cream to make myself feel better, and I sat there in my apartment watching AVP and eating ice cream, and ever since it's become a comfort after really stressful days.

This reminds me, Leon Theremin (the, uh, inventor of the Theremin) also created an advanced listening device planted into a carved wooden seal gifted (by school children) from Russia to the US Embassy. It was incredibly advanced for its time.

A lot of people who aren't writers are insisting all writers use AI, we just have to hide it.

As a musician, as a writer, I've never tried nor will I ever try AI. People who think everyone is using it just can't imagine what integrity is.

I hope someday a second genre of game is invented besides roguelike. If there were another genre I bet that would be pretty neat.

A lot of cool new innovations for guitar construction and playability is coming around and all of it is like "this new construction will make playing, tuning, intonation, and gigging 100x more easier. It will change how everyone* plays guitar"

*Everyone with a spare $6,000

I'm very fortunate to work with some wonderful trans folk on music, and you should really check out their work for the often vast array of genres they perform far above their peers.

That "post a concert photo you took" is reminding me that in over 20yrs of shows and hundreds of them, I've never taken one photo at a concert. Granted most of that was not being able to, but still.

And despite what people may think, this isn't really ego that makes it debilitating. What makes it so hard is that you've prepared yourself to be vulnerable and open to the world and that moment passes by with no recognition. You never completely get used to it, you just learn how to handle it.

This, 100%. A lot of people aren't prepared to pour a year or years into something, hundreds and thousands of hours worth of work, release it, and be met with just incredible silence. It can be debilitating.

I'm going to exclude my top 3 bands, all of whom I've seen live a few times (Opeth, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden) and say Cannibal Corpse and The Black Dahlia Murder are probably the most consistently incredible live act. Seen both about 8-10 times over 15-20yrs. Each time, amazing.

Had a nightmare about a slam band being themed around Lake Mungo, 'cause slam bands always make terrible decisions like that. Like being a slam band.

Thankfully it wasn't real. . .

. . .for now.
