It doesn't help that there's widespread acceptance that chaos and noise is inevitable. What are you fighting for if you can't keep space for what matters? That's what I'm missing. I can't scream at the world 24/7. I need to be able to share and talk about the things we're supposed to be living for.

Idea for an ATProtocol game (for @atmosphereconf.org and smaller meetups): you pick a sense, and you're given a lexicon from your own repository that you have to identify by that sense. What do you think an @anisota.net inventory item tastes like?

I wrote a short post-mortem on the Bluesky outage we had on Monday. First time using pckt, it was a really nice experience tbh!

Do you hate datacenters, or do you hate the wasteful, sprawling complexes you associate with the term? Nothing about that is inevitable.

I hope the anti-datacenter backlash caused by the AI boom settles in to a more sensible anti-wasteful land use movement. We kind of rebuilt our economy on data.

It's neat to log in to @margin.at and see all my @semble.so cards. This kind of integration has tended to follow an "Our Incredible Journey" post for the last 15 years or so. The mashable web is late, but it's finally coming.

Between Google pushing the post-quantum encryption timeline to 2029, Claude Mythos maybe ending key assumptions about the difficulty of finding exploits, and the change to SSL cert expiration in 2029, is 2030 going to be a convergence that makes Y2K look as minor as people mistakenly believe it was?

new from me: on recent discourse and drama on Mastodon. the software gives people the tools to create community via instances, with a wide plurality of cultures and communities. But what people want is a singular culture/community on the federation layer

The big thing to me is $600/month for a PDS with 500k accounts on a server with more power than necessary. Any small US city could host a PDS for the whole population.

The big stuff (relay, appview, Discover) is on owned hardware. ~$800k/year for 40m+ accounts. Smart early choices compound.

Related: I think the Bluesky people are also aligned with good, and in a way that I think warrants sparing them in the revolution. The fact that this conversation can move off microblogging to proper blogging on the same protocol is a powerful proof of concept.

How I see the industry:

OpenAI: trash models, principles alien if present

Google: Gemini is the most mundane of evils. Neoliberalism encoded in weights. DNC of AI.

Anthropic: principled in a way that broadly overlaps with good, but diverges in ways that make me hope they collapse with the rest.

"The anti-AI left does real, important work identifying harms. The pro-AI left does real, important work identifying benefits. And both sides, when the machine gets its hooks in, reduce the other to caricature"

I've been saying this but the 5000 anti-AI lists I'm on reduce me to "AI bro"

*talking to teenage militant atheist self*

current me: okay so there’s a big fight between the government and the catholic church

teenage me: got it, so we’re obviously on the side of the government

current me: I, uh, you might want to sit down for this one

If you only read or listen to or watch one thing from Rudy, watch this. You can't really get to know someone's philosophy or their approach to community from posts on a microblogging website.

Oh no. The OF agency recruiters are here

ok. NB4 they hit your DMs,

PSA. I've been on Onlyfans for 6+ years, been coached by top models with millions of followers and much more experience. I've never heard of anyone with a good experience with management/agencies.

Please build your own team. 🧵
