er, winched aboard *from the ocean* where he splashed down. They're taking him to the Intrepid and from there to Grand Turk Island for debrief. The USS John Pierce recovered the capsule (Aurora 7), now on display at Chicago's Museum of Science & Industry, which offers no cold war history, btw.

I grew up visiting that museum with my grandparents! It’s a really great place and a treasure for the city.

(Although the coal mine always freaked me out — I’m definitely prone to claustrophobia.)
