Hybrids are a bad choice; they have all the stuff that can go wrong with and all the maintenance of an ICE without the benefits of full electric. Battery tech is fine, just be sure to get something with an 800v system. More ICE cars per capita burn up than EVs. Unstable and dangerous is propaganda.

You can at least put out a burning ICE car with water...
I will also add that with the exception of Hyundai, none of the 800v class cars are particularly affordable. I'm not anti-EV, far from it, I just hope that the promises of solid state batteries turn out to be true.

I've got a four year old Ioniq 5 that is 800v. When I bought it yes it was only the second model of any car that had one. You can get them pretty easily now. 🤷‍♂️

You're thinking of PHEVs. Hybrids are still good. Look at the prius. Incredible gas mileage, extremely reliable. Batteries are fairly small and simple to replace after 15 years.

Just because I *can* juggle axes doesn't mean it's a great thing to be doing every day :-)

I've had a Prius, and I've had a PHEV Caddy. Both of them have all sorts of complexity and shit that can break that EVs just don't have in them to worry about. It's just silly to still own a car that takes gas, period.

The prius doesn't even need lithium since it uses a NiMH battery (except the prime)

I drive a lot with a lot of tools/ladders/equipment so EV is not there for me yet. also need to run PTO when at the job site sometimes. EVs are great for 90% of City folks/50% of rural drivers. but most of the work force is stuck on ICE for a while.

I can see the draw of electrified work vehicles in the near future though, the ability to run power tools directly off of the vehicle's battery instead of bringing a generator (or having the vehicle *be* the generator in the case of a hybrid) I think would be very appealing, no?
