I'm a car guy - EVs are probably better for 90% of drivers than ICE cars, or a PHEV for people who drive long distance. The trouble is, battery tech isn't there yet (LiFePo4 is stable but heavy, and Li-Ion is unstable and dangerous). I will probably be buying a hybrid as my next vehicle though.

Hybrids are a bad choice; they have all the stuff that can go wrong with and all the maintenance of an ICE without the benefits of full electric. Battery tech is fine, just be sure to get something with an 800v system. More ICE cars per capita burn up than EVs. Unstable and dangerous is propaganda.
