Internal combustion engines should be reserved for special applications. They are too inefficient and ancient for common use.

The US still needs to figure out charging infrastructure though, EV's only really work here if you live in a single family home with a dedicated parking spot. For people in cities its still (unfortunately) really impractical. Also, would be nice if there were options other than huge SUVs.

What about quick charging stations where gas stations currently are? Sure, you may need to upgrade the grid locally for that, but those distances are rather short in cities.
