I used to never block anyone as it would sometimes make things worse. They sic followers on you and then you'd see people who get blocked wear it as a badge of honour and use it as a way of saying they somehow "won".

I stopped overthinking it and will block instantly now. Love it.

I grew up in the “blocklists are for cowards” dialup era

Then spent a long time in “only friend people you’ve actually met”

Now “social” is like forums without boundaries and I mostly just grouptext

I do kinda wish I could give temp blocks to people who are just annoying in the moment but might be interesting later but I don’t care enough to unblock them

This bit confuses me - for me blocklists were never for cowards in the old days. On the Usenet forums I read oft would you see or write "Plonk" to indicate someone had gone into a killfile. Mass Plonkings were a thing
