Color leeching is obvious and all around us.

The kitchen pic on the left shows us how things look when you knock back 2.5 packs of Camels a day inside all year long. Real colorful, just like one's lung imagery. 👍

okay i totally agree with the exception of that kitchen which i think would look super cute in a house next to the beach, where you look outside and see the ocean

I am kind of curious why when I think of the 70s I always imagine it more red and yellow. Photos from that era tend to fade yellow, so that might be part of it. But red seemed everywhere.

Cigarette smoke colors things yellow

i have to imagine it's also partly because kodachrome, one of the most popular film stocks of the time, really saturated reds and yellows and had very understated greens

Orange and brown were the biggest colors. Also my fav colors. Houseplants were huge in the 70s so having green with your wood paneling and orange carpet was the sexy vibe

My kingdom for a bright purple or green car 😔🙏

Bring back bright orange station wagons. I can live without the wood paneling, but we need reasonably sized vehicles with significant carrying capacity in fun colors.

The thing about brutalisme is that there's a simple trick to making it absolutely stunning. Brutalist buildings need MASSIVE PLANTS ALL OVER THEM.

It's all money. New stores don't have custom architecture/special paint colors. They are incredibly easy to build/replace parts on/take down, and if a franchise fails, the building doesn't have to be modified to be resold as another business. Same reason the pizza hut/taco bell-shaped roofs are gone

Really of a pair with how cop cars have turned into slate or black tanks.

I think about that whenever I'm watching true crime docs and see the 70s cop cars
