Father to a tyrant toddler and Roommate of two tyrannical cats. Philosophy Prof. at UofA. Peruvian-Canadian. My areas of research are Indigenous Philosophy, Epistemology, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, and Latin American Philosophy.

I wrote this piece for @ca.theconversation.com. Legal and political theorists should start recognizing that the post WW2 legal order is no more. Thus, we should theorize and act accordingly.

Nothing else. The Western world is seeing the US as the empire people from Latin America, Asia, and Africa always knew it was. Sadly, it took the empire to aim at Canada, Norway, and other Western countries for the West to notice. 3/3 #Iran #USA #Trump

At least not care enough to do something relevant about it. The two party system effectively allows the same war mongers in place over and over. The only difference between Republican war crimes & Democrat war crimes is that the latter comes with some fake DEI commitment attached to it. 2/3

The fact that Trump can threaten to commiting atrocities in order to stop an illegal war HE started, is an indictment of the entire US society. All of their presidents have been bombing, killing, and destroying people's lives around the planet for almost 100 years and they never really care. 1/3

I write things that are meaningful to me, & dont expect them to be the most popular. But I would be lying if I said I wasnt happy to get an email saying my paper "Beyond gatekeeping: Philosophical sources, Indigenous philosophy, and the Huarochirí Manuscript" is one of last year's most cited papers.

We are in the midst of the WORST ENERGETIC crisis in the modern era, caused by these same maniacs who popped open a bottle of champagne to celebrate their accomplishments. This level of depravity is almost, almost, unbelievable.

Of course, the ICJ already determined that Palestinians in the occupied territories were subjected to apartheid. That is not under dispute on legal or moral grounds. This is just another example of the depravity of the Israeli regime.

Palestinians in the West Bank who engage in self-defence, or any other action against settlers attacking them and stealing their homes, will now be hanged BY DEFAULT. The conviction rate of Israeli military courts prosecuting Palestinians in the West Bank is 96%. #Palestine #Israel #Apartheid

Chattel slavery of people of African origin, dropping nuclear weapons upon civilians in Asia, destroying societies all over the planet during the 20th and 21st centuries, and their ongoing support of fascist genocidal regimes. Here is to hoping! 2/2

Just like Western narratives led many to remember the Aztecs for their "human sacrifices" or the Incas for their "cannibalism" (I am looking at you, John Locke), I hope the USA as a society is mostly remembered for their genocide of Indigenous people of the Americas, 1/2

After that, all their wars have been about making money for wealthy elites, nothing else. It blows my mind how individuals can go to the other side of the world to kill children and then think they are doing it to protect their "liberties." 2/2

One has to wonder how much propaganda people in the US consume to actually join an armed force that is mostly an extension of corporate "leaders," also known as the Epstein class. When was the last time that any US soldier actually fought to protect their country? 1945? Against Japan? 1/2

Most European political leaders are little more than mats for US presidents to walk over, so seeing them reject Trump was a nice surprise. I guess supporting the Palestinian genocide was acceptable, but disrupting the price of oil goes too far for them?

US Politicians, Vasal States, and Western Media: Its not a war, its just a limited military operation.

Trump: The lives of American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties - that often happens in WAR

At least, unlike all the other previous warmongers/US presidents, this one is honest.

The only thing that the US has now is raw military power, not real political influence. Now, to choose the ninth president in ten years. It would be sadder if the memes weren't as good. 😅 #Peru #Politics #USA #China #PoliticalChaos 3/3

This is despite the fact that the US had backed his presidency. Something interesting to note is that, despite the chaos of Peruvian politics, US support was often an anchor of power. Not this time. The collapse of the US hegemonic role in the entire hemisphere is noticeable. 2/3

In case you missed it, Jose Jeri, the current President of Peru, has been ousted. Accusations of sexual assault, a set of late-night young female visitors to the presidential palace, and very shady deals with Chinese interests seemed to have triggered his fall. 1/3

If you want to read the non-apology and how it eventually everything is justified by blaming women's rights activists actions as what triggers Chomky's concerns for Epstein, read below. 4/4

At this stage, if people say this is unfair or "uncharitable" I can honestly say IDGAF. This whole "let's forget what these iconic men did because they had some good insights" doesn't cut it anymore. 3/4

The Lemkin Institute is calling out the Nazification of the US government. Those who would rather keep raising alarms about threats from other parts of the world, are either part of the fascist agenda or deep in propaganda. 1/2

I honestly hope that all those US citizens appalled by what the US is doing in its territory, get as appalled and angry when the US does/promote that abroad. Because THE US HAS BEEN DOING THAT FOR OVER 100 YEARS.

Furthermore, at a certain point, we have to recognize that the safest thing for the world would be for the USA to be too busy engaging in a civil war and too weakened to directly threaten Latin America, Canada, and Europe, or indirectly promoting chaos or harming the rest of the planet. 2/2

The current fascist regime in the USA is pushing the country towards a civil war. Unless the other side starts reacting, they will end up with more and more casualties from a paramilitary force that has been granted absolute immunity. 1/2

Gave an interview to Redeye about the state of the international legal order and how we can make sense of it. Despite the atrocities and problems we can attribute to the system that gave us the UN, there was a set of rules in place that is no longer in place.

European states are catching up fast to the fact that the US is operating under a new set of rules that have little to no connection to those of the post-WWII order. Canada and other countries would be wise to act in the same way. The UN-based legal order is gone.
