when we're all unable to connect to use the internet, send emails, pay our bills, use our toasters, and god knows what else if AWS goes down, i want you to know now that i blame our lack of antitrust laws far more than i'll blame a foreign missile

My internet connections have been shit this week and none of them even run on Amazon web services. We are in so much trouble.

The WaPo published Trump’s fucked up Easter Truth Social post while the Times was pretending it didn’t really happen so I think Jeff is actually sad about his servers

I have a small, hand crank, emergency radio that gets AM AND FM. When Iran wipes out AWS, I shall be king. I'll be a modern day one-eyed man in the land of the blind.

Good, they shouldn't be collecting data on people anyway. They are only going to use it to control everyone.

AWS should be somewhere between 90 and 300 separate companies

Wait... how many can they lose before I can't control my lights?

I'm only partially kidding and it's purely laziness, I'm gay and have only lamps.

YES, BECAUSE I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO BE ABLE TO SEE.

I have been wondering what effect the multitude of ai data centers being built might ultimately have on AWS's dominance. When companies go under it could be a great chance to get a competitor going, but probably AWS will open it's giant maw and swallow them whole.

Cloud platform architects typically have multi-cloud redundancy strategies to ensure resiliency for services. Not all do this because of expense, but many mission critical applications use this resilience pattern.

Sure I have cool first edition books, but I also have 2,000 vinyl record albums & about 500 4K movies & a generator. Everybody is welcome to come by. And I can rent out the blu-rays that come with the 4K.

I dubbed myself "King of the Future" 👑 The future is now.

There’s one AWS region (us-east-1) that is more important than the rest. If they were to start attacking in the US, fucking up those specific data centers would cause a lot of pain.

Is this the kinda thing an insurance company would pay out for?

Many do *not* pay for acts of war, at least in the US. Depends on the policy. In that part of the world, I’d assume people would want/demand war/terrorism insurance.

no idea but I presume you’d at least want to be insured for this in the region. don’t know if people write those policies.
