The West didn’t promise Russia that NATO would not expand east.

Russia loves formal treaties, but there is no signed document proving this claim anywhere.

Even Mikhail Gorbachev confirmed that NATO expansion was never formally discussed at the time.

It's just a myth

True. It was during re-unification of Germany that the Soviet Union was promised that no NATO troops would be deployed to the former East Germany. This promise was kept.

When Soviet Union collapsed, former Warsaw Pact members applied for membership in the alliance. NATO didn't "recruit" anyone.

That's right.

Even if it were true, it wouldn't matter, because no one east of TΓΌrkiye has joined NATO.

And even if it were true, it wouldn't matter, because the Soviet Union and the entire Eastern Bloc have suffered a catastrophic failure to exist.

The Russian Federation is 34 years young. Gorbachev was never its leader.

And even if there was, how many treaties that Russia signed were broken by Russia?

It’ll be easier to list the ones they actually honored.

They love treaties only when they benefit from them. Otherwise they could not care less, not to be trusted.
