The sore throat and swallowing problems start after about one week of treatments and gradually get worse. The skin in the neck area starts to peel and blister around week 4.
This gets worse until two weeks after treatment is done. It will be six to eight weeks for things to return to normal....

I was always much, much more fearful of radiation than chemo, for good reasons.

My brother was diagnosed with throat cancer and went through chemotherapy and radiation treatment. It was no fun at all but he pulled through it and has been on the mend.

What a courageous post. Hang in there, Jaberwock. I cannot even imagine how difficult this has been for you, and continues to be. Very much hoping that there's a lot of light at the end of the tunnel.
