That there is not a concerted push for Hegseth to disavow his mentor right now is why Republicans have an asymmetric political advantage.

Donald Trump tried to have his own VP killed as part of an attempted coup plot at Congress's place of work, and this country re-elected him.

If this were my track record, I'd probably order three aircraft carrier strike groups to the Middle East not giving a shit what Congress thinks about it too.

There's over a 1,000 days left in Donald Trump's presidency, everybody working for him knows that there's a pardon waiting for them at the end of his term, and this will have the effect of encouraging people in his administration to commit crimes.

Joe Biden's pardons did not have this effect.

Donald Trump knows that extortion of the world by exerting control over international waterways is a powerful card because it's ideally what he'd like to do.

Remember how Donald Trump acted like he was against the Iraq War during his first presidential campaign and BuzzFeed News reported that he actually supported it in 2002?

Donald Trump acting like he has a problem with Alex Jones on ethical grounds, when he historically hasn't, is the sequel.

Just because Congressional Republicans have decided that fealty to Donald Trump is more important than their oath to defend the United States Constitution does not give Congressional Democrats an out from the fact that they took an oath to do the same thing.

Again, impeachment is an issue where you can show me all the polling data that you want, the past attempts to impeach and remove Donald Trump, the current makeup of the House and the Senate...you can show me all of these things, but an oath to defend the US Constitution is the most important thing.

If House Republicans shut down efforts to impeach Donald Trump, Democrats can simply make the point that they're violating their oath to defend the Constitution, and everybody acting like that this is difficult just because Republicans control the House has literally no imagination.

To clarify my view on impeachment, it's a duty. Executing it is not contingent on polling or the political makeup of Congress, but it is the logical and moral culmination of taking an oath to defend the US Constitution.

Impeaching Donald Trump is the only course of action that upholds this oath.

Upping this because I'm seeing debate over what Donald Trump actually meant by "no nuclear weapons", and it was probably just this. Reckless speculation should not be encouraged.

That said, we learned today that the US under Donald Trump threatened the Vatican with US military force.

"We'd rather have a stupid, racist, and malevolent white male President than a Black or a woman president" is a message that Donald Trump's base keeps hitting "Send" on.

The worst part about the fact that I'm going to live to see a post-US led world order is that this outcome was entirely preventable.

Very good chance the Kingdom of Denmark is the first NATO ally that Donald Trump wants to punish, and it won't have anything to do with the Iran War.

Donald Trump administration's is insane, the Constitutional remedy for it is right there, but Congressional Republicans won't use it because they're afraid of being primaried by their base.

The United States is just the single biggest hostage situation that has ever existed.

White Evangelical support for Donald Trump is very high, and knowing everything that I know about these people, we simply cannot rule out the possibility that Donald Trump's administration threatening the Vatican with military force... might improve Donald Trump's standing among white Evangelicals.

Did the Israeli opposition leader initially back Netanyahu's decision to strike Iran?

Yes.

Welcome to the consequences of trusting the right with anything, whether it's the Israeli right or the American right.

"A big day for World Peace" from the man who literally started a United States war of choice against Iran.

And he's acting like he'll be in control of the affairs of the Strait of Hormuz when Iran's 10-point proposal literally said Iran and Oman are in control of this going forward.

Donald Trump adding a strategic war loss to United States military history that left Iran in greater control of the Strait of Hormuz before the US midterm elections is legitimately maximum "Republicans in disarray", and we don't have a media ecosystem that will say so.

Even if Donald Trump completely backs down from his threat of civilizational annihilation, the threat was issued, and the mere issuing of this threat is an impeachable offense. Nobody should be treating this as a genie that can be put back in bottle.

Again, just yesterday, Donald Trump made clear he has a grudge against NATO because they won't hand over Greenland, and he was ranting about wanting to run as the president of Venezuela. And our political-media ecosystem treats the fact that he's insane as the least important information about him.

I literally have no normalcy bias. Donald Trump has used social media to threaten to wipe out another civilization, and the only obstacle to impeaching and removing him is white male supremacy. That's it. That's the only reason he's still in a position of power right now after issuing this threat.

Donald Trump's only anti-war position is his adamant defiance towards the idea of personally serving in one.

"Only Trump knows where things stand on Iran"

Donald Trump went to war with Iran with no plan for Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz in response to being attacked, which is literally the most predictable geopolitical behavior on the face of the Earth.

Donald Trump being proud of CSAR rescuing missing US airmen *after* he claimed Iran has no air defenses is not the political victory lap that he thinks it is.

Donald Trump is using social media to threaten to wipe out an entire civilization, and this is after he used social media last year to call for the execution of elected Democrats.

Democratic voters are not the ones who are seeking distractions from this reality.

You are.

Iran has threatened and does have the capacity to strike desalination plants throughout the region, and there are Middle Eastern nations that heavily or even nearly completely rely on them for drinking water.

This is a regional strategic vulnerability... that Donald Trump in no way cares about.

People have said for over 10 years that Donald Trump is someone "looking for off-ramps."

Even though he is 100% on-ramp and he will be staring at this development in 100% on-ramp, and the Iranian government knows all of this.

Donald Trump has a grudge against NATO because they won't let him have Greenland, he "joked" about running for president of Venezuela, and he's now announcing that a "whole civilization will die tonight" on social media (re: Iran).

This is simply school mass shooter psychology on the world stage.
