But if they end up buying a Reform win in 2029 GE, then it will have been five star value for money. Got to invest big to win big… and when you’ve got deep pockets, and winning means you literally win the Royal Mint, then I suspect the backers are comfortable with the situation ☹️

It’s highly unlikely that reform would get anything near the number of seats to win an election, they don’t have the infrastructure for that, Labour will win with a reduced majority, put money on it

I hope so. We are collectively staking more than just money on it. Expect Trumpian wholesale dismantling of the state if Reform win, with even fewer checks on Executive power. And yes, they don’t have the infrastructure at present- but 4 years and backers with bottomless pockets… is a worry.

There are definitely some interesting questions around this - and maybe also why it's worth looking closely at the Ofcom side of things at the same time.

Under the law, Ofcom is supposed to ensure that "political bodies" are not granted a broadcasting license: www.ofcom.org.uk/siteassets/resources/documents/research-and-data/media-literacy-research/media-ownership/media-ownership-rules-report-2018.pdf?v=323567 href="/search?t=posts&q=page=8">#page=8 (1)

So if an Ofcom-regulated TV channel were to be used by its owner to pursue such an overtly political purpose, it's difficult to see how that could be consistent with those Ofcom licensing rules (2)
