They're the party! People trick themselves into thinking XIV is an MMO first and a Final Fantasy second and it's backward. Playing my alt almost entirely solo/with Duty Support/Trusts has really made me appreciate them more as my RPG homies.

Oh yeah! They 100% are, and the game does it's best to make that as crystal clear as possible! I think a lot of people just. Don't like that they're playing a Final Fantasy game???

Doing my NG+ with Sumire I use duty support/trust when possible as much as possible and I love it for the same reason

Media literacy dying has had the incredibly annoying knock-on effect of people getting really upset when other characters have agency and important roles and I *despise* it.
