huge kudos to everyone who worked on this! Time is such a thankless thing to work on - complex and full of pitfalls, but everyone thinks it *ought* to be simple. (How many management types, or even devs who aren't familiar with time, asked "why tf do we need to spend *this* much effort on it?!?")

and contrary to what you suggest in the blog, Moment was far from a de-facto standard. there's a rich ecosystem of libraries for working with time - and it isn't the sort of thing that yearns for a rich ecosystem.

having one built-in system that *actually works* is fucking HUGE!

i think roughly 20-30% of devs just hate change. but static typing and TS are legit controversial.
