i think roughly 20-30% of devs just hate change. but static typing and TS are legit controversial.

I’ve been a supporter of static typing built in. What is typescript support? Typescript support natively? Yes please

The base chart is from Jason's blog. The red bars are my personal guess at what proportion of JS devs would not want to see that kind of change.

i.e. static typing, though highly desired, is also highly controversial. While Temporal just gets the ~20% who dislike any change.
