there is no politician so irreplaceable that we must overlook sexual misconduct because nobody else could possibly fill their shoes

This week on Unsung History @bschillace.brandyschillace.com joins me to discuss the surprisingly relevant story of sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld and the gender-affirming care his Institute for Sexual Science provided to patients, including trans woman Dora Richter, a century ago in Weimar Germany.

You’re right.

That might not be enough time to bury the Statue of Liberty and distribute 400 million ape costumes.

Vance is so bad at this. There's a way to tell a story about a spouse wanting to do something dangerous, and the couple talking together about the risks and coming to an agreement. The analogy still wouldn't work, but we might feel something as he told the story. But instead he does this

One challenge with impeachment is deciding which impeachable offenses to actually impeach Trump for. Reading the full list of them on the House floor would take weeks.

If you need a distraction from, well, everything, I have 220 episodes of history for you. Some of it is pretty depressing, but at least it's in the past and not in our unhinged present?

Deeply relieved that the bombs will stop—for now.

But threatening the destruction of an entire civilization has repercussions.

Republicans must call Congress back NOW, pass a war powers resolution, & stop this unauthorized war.

And Trump must be removed from office immediately.

I’m glad there is a reported ceasefire deal with Iran. But we shouldn’t be in this illegal war in the first place. And Donald Trump can’t simply threaten war crimes with impunity. Congress needs to get back in session now to stop this war and remove Donald Trump.

Just because a President announces he’s agreed to a two week ceasefire moments before he threatened to commit war crimes, does not mean he is suddenly fit to serve. #25thAmendment

Speaker Johnson, we are calling on you to bring the House back to DC IMMEDIATELY!

The Cabinet needs to invoke the 25th Amendment. But Congress can’t just sit on its hands and wait for that to happen when the President is threatening to commit war crimes TONIGHT.

Donald Trump is unfit to serve as the leader of the free world. That's why I have cosponsored H. Res. 939 Articles of Impeachment to remove him from office.

Definitely, 100%, this man needs to be peaceably removed from power immediately, there is a mechanism for that, and the GOP needs to activate it.

I wouldn't wish that on the people of Venezuela, but I look forward to when Trump is finished with this, whatever this is.

I go downtown & ride public transit often, and I don't feel any less safe than I did in the 1990s. In fact the only crime I've personally experienced on a CTA train was in the late '90s.

I go downtown more often now, so my perspective may be skewed, but I feel like downtown is way more vibrant now.

On this day 92 years ago, the members of Local 18384 walked out after the failed negotiations with Electric Auto-Lite Co. Thus began one of the largest and most significant labor events of the 1930s. The Electric Auto-Lite Strike of 1934 was an important labor moment in an important labor year.
