Thing is, this is an argument used against how they handle difficulty in any context. Being able to infinitely credit-feed unfortunately makes it harder for some people to see the value of replaying the game to get better.

not the point but theres a massive delta in the amount of quarters arcade games want from you. i noticed the 90s kicked it up a notch. supposedly a lot of arcade goers got too skilled and hogged the machine on one credit.

I live in Poland and all "arcades" I've seen in recent years were just reward-ticket dispensing gambling joints
As far as I understand this is because arcade games started getting legislated AS gambling machines and they stopped being a viable business

I mean, they kinda were. They were made to be deliberately hard to get players to spend more money and, unless you had the money to spend and a lot of time it was hard to get good at them.
