Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Rennes. But many other cities,.mall and large, have such plans for the near future. Just look at a city of your choice on Google and add « Plan Vélo ». Here is for example the case for Perpignan which I had no idea before doing the search.

Consumer sentiment is at the lowest level ever. This is not what you’d predict given inflation, GDP, spending data. But one variable from UMich sheds some light on the subject: the percent of people who are saying prices are nominally high is at an ATH.

During the 1970s oil crisis, the Netherlands 🇳🇱 realized car dependency was a trap and built world-class bike infrastructure.

The US 🇺🇸 just invented "Right on Red" to supposedly save gas and accepted the pedestrian casualties.

Two approaches, two very different outcomes.

A new NJB video. 👇

Seven years without a driving license, and we’re still waiting to find the limits of the bike-train combination in the Netherlands.

The latest: 100 km by rail from Delft to Tilburg, followed by a 20 km pedal through the Brabant countryside for a car-free weekend escape in the woods outside Diessen.

Before (1970) / After (2026) Rue La Fayette, Paris 10. The façade, once blackened by car soot, was renovated. A bike lane appeared. And the picture framing shop was replaced by other shops including a print shop, a motorcycle shop, and finally now a longtail bike shop

The University of Michigan has been measuring consumer sentiment since 1952. We just got the first Iran-afflicted measure for April, and it's at the lowest level ever recorded.

The gap is much smaller now. But North America had *far* higher car ownership than Europe in 1950.

DC implemented a new policy for its streeteries that cost restaurants $20,000 to implement.

The result: virtually every restaurant eliminated their outdoor dining, many have reduced their hiring, & now a few cars can park more easily.

Congrats on the successful policy change, DC government!

Before (1970) / After (2026) Rue Saint-Luc, Paris 18. In 1970, there was just a "children crossing" sign. Over time, parking along the school was removed and barriers were installed, then the street was pedestrianized, then greened, and this is what the 2023 "school street" looks like today

U.S. consumer prices rose 0.9 percent in March, driven by a nearly 11 percent jump in energy costs. Overall prices were up 3.3 percent from a year earlier. "Core" prices, excluding the volatile food and energy categories, were up 0.2 percent month/month, and 2.6 percent year/year. #NumbersDay
