If more people understood the stakes, things might not feel (be) so hopeless. And everyone on here knows what we are up against in terms of the press and social media. So we should do what we can.

Often people laugh or brush things off because they don’t care, but plenty of times they do it because they are scared of what it would mean to take it seriously. You don’t have to yell at people or be strident. You can simply, through your tone and bearing, remind them that this is all real.

just had this experience with Hubby. "He won't do it, he's an ass, he's always going off about things." Yeah well the other countries are watching him bomb Iran and calculating the risk that he's serious, so what do you think THEY are going to do? "Oh."

I was able to reach a "Nobody is coming for LGBTQ+ people's rights" person the other day, at least for a moment, when presenting them with news articles about that actively happening. How much that stuck and wasn't compartmentalized away, I don't know.
