It's the one thing about earth that could persuade me there's some intention at work. But then I remember the Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy: if you focus too much on the inevitable coincidences, you see connections where there are none.

Three kids near here just got killed in a car wreck. They went to a Christian school. The principal was all calling on God to lift up their families.

I’m sitting there wondering why you keep following that God when he has the power to lift people up but not stop a fiery crash.

Like one instance: That bullet not hitting Trump. Could it be a kid shooting from that far away had a super unlikely chance of hitting a target that moves? He was more than a football field away and hadn’t spent years training as a sniper.

I don't mind that our brains are really good at picking up on patterns; that is responsible for a vast amount of our more ingenious accomplishments. But yeah, it also needs to be balanced with the more sober logical bean-counter brain.

What damns us is when we reject the true for the comfortable.
