The average Taiwanese person simply doesn't identify with China. I understand why people don't know this but like, it's a very essential part of the entire thing of modern Taiwanese politics.

Yes it's unusual *how* this came to be, but it's just the facts. You can't logic away a national identity or logic anything else *into* it!

It's confusing that a quirk of politics (and history) prevents us treating Taiwan as the post - colonial country it actually is.
