I had to "upgrade" my 80 yr old uncle to a Windows 11 laptop this past fall. The Mail app there was really not tested on someone who is 80. Yeah it might look cool and people that are terminally online will understand it, but to someone who is used to Outlook Express? Complete mess

The general mantra of hiding stuff to make things more "seamless" and "smart" just backfires spectacularly, and it just causes someone who is now 80, but used to be somewhat computer savvy, confused, frustrated and worried

Microsoft be like "we're removing this from the control panel in case it confuses people" so now the only way you can toggle some essential thing is by using regedit which is far less confusing and dangerous apparently

One of the things I like about open source software is that they don't have an incentive to change the UI out from under you regularly.

Thunderbird, an email client, has had one major change the whole time I've used it.
It moved the "message was encrypted/signed" banner to make spoofing it harder.

I don't know that it's easy to use if you never have before, but you're set for life once you know how.
