Europeans seem to think they always can buy their way out of predicaments. But they do not see that this has only a temporary effect. UKR have earned NATO and EU membership more than any other now. Frustrating them is very unfair.

This is a structural problem.

The only area where the EU has exclusive competence is monetary policy.

It cannot do much else than throw money at problems even if it wanted to, because it hasn't been authorized to conduct foreign policy.

Although to be fair, I'm not sure it wants to at this point.

Too many pro-Russian heads of state. Not just in Slovakia and Hungary, but also in Belgium for example.
