Just got back home and this is the fourth time I’ve seen Springsteen but there are so few live performers that are on his level
It’s an absolutely epic event
Like the church of the American dream
Songs of loss and self destruction and longing and loneliness and heartbreak that somehow feel hopeful

Seeing Bruce is something you don't soon forget.
The entire band absolutely leaves it all on the stage every single time.
I first saw him on the River tour and despite having seen hundreds of bands in my life since, that one remains one of my favorite concert experiences ever.

That’s how I felt after seeing Billy Bragg in Trumps first term. Like church but good.

Exactly! First time seeing him live at the Portland show, 4/3. Simply amazing.
Bruce and his band are National Treasures. He gets us. 🎸💪🗣️🇺🇸

Diedrich! I didn't know you were here, you're one of the people I missed from the other place. Hope you're doing well.

Agreed about Bruce, I've also seen him four times, starting with The River tour. Amazing shows that leave you exhausted but happy. RIP Clarence.

Nice tribute to Clarence during 10th Avenue
Bruce actually points up to the screens and says “this is the best part” right before the video montage of Clarence

I saw him at the old Meadowlands Giant stadium in the pouring rain as it thundered in the distance. He sold so many shows there, the shirts were numbered with which number night it was.

Best concert of my life, even if we were in the nosebleeds.

I’m going Monday here in SF. It’ll be my fourth Springsteen show too (not counting some solo benefit gigs) starting with the Born in the USA tour in 1984. The videos I’ve seen of this tour are amazing- more like a revival meeting than a concert. As you said, so very few on his level.

Just amazing shows this week! At one point, there were 20 musicians on stage. What a sound.

I went to see him open the Summer of Love tour back in Worcesta Mass in 87’. It was soooo good I didn’t even mind the D I got on the physics final the next day. One of the better choices of my life.

Glad you had fun. I’m thinking of talking my wife into going to see him in DC when he comes. She’s dragged me to so many k-pop concerts I think I can convince her.

Well Diedrich, if you want music that moves you, search out:
Pink Floyd, Dark Side
Supertramp, Crime of the Century
Todd Rundgren & Utopia, Ra
Mark Knopfler, Shangrila

I graduated high school in 1985 & always liked Bruce, but my husband is THE Springsteen fan. After we met in 1990, he started taking me to Bruce concerts. He puts on the best shows. With & without E Street, I've never seen someone work harder in concert (& I've seen McCartney, Bowie, U2, etc.).

I’ve seen him twice. Easily the two best concerts of my life, and I’ve seen the Stones, U2, and Pink Floyd. They’re all great, but there is only one Boss.

It doesn’t hurt that he and E-Street Band don’t let up for over 3 hours. Incredible.

No kidding though if you’re MAGA it’s going to be a tough road for you
He really wants you to change your ways
He’s passionate about it
But what’s interesting is he says “America was born from disagreement”
So he believes that you can and we can be saved
Anyway you should go if you can it’s powerful

We have to meet people where they are and guide them softly. No adult has ever changed their mind by being scolded or preached at. ✊🫶💙

I was not a fan when a friend dragged me to one of his shows in 1978. It is still the best live performance I have ever seen and I have been a huge fan ever since. House lights came up @ 1130 ish and they just kept playing until 1 am. He played out unto the arena floor and the crowd parted for him

Indeed. Probably closing in on 30 for me. Next one NYC on 5/11. Still relevant and still relatable.

Phoenix next week. Treated myself to floor seats for my big 60. His music restores my soul in ways I can’t describe. Puts words to feelings I couldn’t articulate. There’s something uniquely beautiful and painful about being American -especially when you’re not born rich- and his music captures it.

It’s because all art is ultimately about hope. If things were truly hopeless people wouldn’t create.
We can use this as performers. If there are words left on the page, somebody’s still trying to change somebody’s mind.
The Boss knows this and it sustains his work.

Haha dumb poem time: if there’s a word on the page or a note in the air, you know there’s hope, the hope is there.
(Seriously so many actors wreck performances by playing into despair or fury before the scene ends.)

I’m not a Springsteen fan, but I saw some footage of him opening the show and it is getting hard not to be a Springsteen fan. Dude is a hero.

I feel like the only comparable concert experience I’ve had was seeing Patti Smith perform live in a temporarily converted church in Montreal, illuminated by stained glass windows.

Really amazing to see great artists rise to the occasion. We need more musicians to follow in Springsteen’s footsteps.

Just want to add for clarity that everyone should always having been following in Patti Smith’s footsteps but for people who have enjoyed the benefits of establishment positioning by remaining politically neutral, right now is the time to shake that mantle off.
