Why do early NES game covers displayed pixel arts instead of flattering artworks? To rebuild buyers’ trust. A VG market crash of '83 where games of poor quality saturated the market killed the public faith in it. Nintendo Entertaining System was a mouthful to avoid alluding to the bad rap of VGs.
