I've never heard of this, but I use ad blockers. Do yourself a favor and run YouTube with a VPN and/or Brave Browser.

It's a bit more privacy forward than other browsers. Just make sure you go into the settings and turn off data collection. You can probably find a guide online for what settings to change. But I stream YouTube all day long and I never see ads at all.
