I spent a lot of my career with kids like Nora, & I understand how fantastic this is.

Would like to say that if you had an AAC system that she used prior to speaking, continuing to use it will not get in the way of her continuing to develop her speaking skills. It facilitates it.

I understand these joys and love hearing about them. My autistic son is 19. He was always verbal but has difficulty in conversations and learning. There have and continue to be many little triumphs along the way. It’s a blessing to love these beautiful souls❤️❤️❤️

She has also said the names of both of our cats, Chewy and Kitty. Now the only person in the house she can't name is daddy💔

She hasn't said many new words recently, but tonight mommy said "Nora, xi shou (wash hands)" and Nora replied "xi shooooooouuuuuuu" and ran to the sink to wash her hands. Delightful!

I will say “I’m gonna get that…” and if she says “belly!” she get tickles

Today she came up to me and put my hand on her stomach and said the whole sentence “I’m gonna get that belly” and I’m not crying you’re crying

NORA STORY ALERT. She only eats fried rice, not white rice. She had finished her bowl of fried rice, but she was still hungry, so she brought her little chair to the kitchen, climbed up on the counter, opened the rice cooker, and took out some white rice...

...she tried the white rice, hated it, then spooned the white rice into the pan we used to cook the fried rice, and stirred it around for a while to try and coat the rice in the leftover sauce. It was an incredible feat of child problem-solving.
