The CIA just stopped publishing their World Factbook and took every page, including the archived copies of previous versions!

This sucks. It was public domain, so I recovered the 2020 edition (the last one published as a zip file) and shared it to GitHub simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/5/the-world-factbook/

I’m so happy I get to play with an Archimedes A3020… in Texas!

Thanks to @adriansdigitalbasement.com ‘s video on converting a bus mouse to an Archie one, I was able to repurpose the same old Logitech C7 in just 10 minutes.

Also in the picture a 4:3 ViewSonic I got for $5 from a local guy.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy.
Mind-blowing that almost no news outlet has remembered it—not even NYT.
That day is seared into my memory in the same way 9/11 is.
I was living in my home country at the time, and I remember myself as a kid crying in front of the TV.

Archimedes A3020 - a UK expat in Houston put it up for sale on a local retro computing Facebook group.
I had to get it.
Now I need to find a bus mouse to convert to the Acorn pinout, and a monitor.
