Getting more political as I get older! European and Remainer. Proudly woke. Cat mum to Tarragon and honoured Sausage Aunt to Errol & Chance. Actual aunt to two adorable niblings. No DM’s unless I know you, please.
Tarragon isn’t well - he’s off his food and is being sick, although he hasn’t really got anything left to bring up. Vet at 3:15 so he’s right under the middle of our bed. I think we will be deploying the hairdryer to get him out 🥺
Public service announcement for those who love the Old Vic's A Christmas Carol*: tickets are on sale and it's already selling out, so if you want tickets, you should get on and buy them. The Saturday matinees are particularly full already.
*Yes, I know it's Easter Sunday and Christmas is ages off.
We are going to Devon with Ben’s family for a long weekend and are travelling with the in-laws. Already regretting it as they overslept, MiL is in a foul mood and is taking it out on everyone else.
We gave Karen a magnificent send off yesterday. It seems strange to say that such a sad day was joyful, but that’s what a room overflowing with love will do.
Made this to bring in to work as I’m a bit bored of the available options. It’s delicious (and I have more for tomorrow 🥰) Mine doesn’t look as impressive as this!
@southlondongirl.bsky.social Early notice of tonight’s dinner - gumbo! One of my brother’s specialties after learning it in NO, but I haven’t had it for ages! So I decided to make it today, just wish I had a larger pot!
Tonight’s dinner is flat iron steak, wedges, mushrooms & broccoli in soy, balsamic and garlic (cooked by Ben). Maybe roasted tomatoes if I can be bothered. And then I’m meeting my bestie for lunch tomorrow as it’s my non-working day 🥰
Here we go. Our normal spend at the wholesale market is around £600 on a Monday. Today we’ve topped £800. Prices have jumped - combo of the “hungry gap” & the fuel costs for deliveries from Europe. We are a long way from food security in the UK. ☹️
I somehow took ZERO photos of the snazzy final meal I had (and had to make as my brother is on the injured list) so you have to believe me when I say that we had mixed seafood ceviche followed by Rick Stein’s ragout of seafood in a rich red wine sauce and it was EPIC!
Any #foodsky recommendations for the Ambleside area ? We’re booked in at Henrock at our hotel the first night , Mathildes is firmly on my breakfast/lunch hit list .
Happy to report that I’ve turned a corner! I’ve had real food and lived to tell the tale. Especially enjoyed roasted chicken thighs, jacket potatoes and stir-fry for dinner 🥰
