No I get it, like "Obviously I don't want a HELL hell in my setting, because fuck that, but is a demon just a kind of person? Are they from a specific place? Are they from some other plane of existence, but that plane is mostly normal once you're actually there, bar the aesthetics?"

btw I came to the conclusion that it's actually hotter if it's not a literal demon and is actually a poorly understood psychic phenomenon in which the normally silent subconscious can be gifted a form and the means to take care of the rest of the mind. Like theraputic debatably-consentual selfcest
