Mona for Mastodon has an option to have all posts (in pre-selected downloaded languages) automatically translate. I much prefer that approach as it allows for less friction to enjoy posts.

Because it uses your phones local AI Engine to translate posts, so everything is done on-device. The pop-up to download a language pack doesn't come from bluesky directly, but your phone.

You can download the language pack once and it will work on your entire device, even other apps

Bluesky does this all the time and it sucks.

Are you considering the possibility of being able to 'follow' a thread, i.e. get notifications as if it was your own post, every time someone replies?
