I understand that SURJ National just endorsed Graham Platner. I'm familiar with SURJ quite well, I started the Boston chapter back in 2016 and still work with organizers from Boston and Maine chapters.

Lot of thoughts on this, but until I unpack it with some colleagues, I'll mostly be quiet.

That stings.

Graham has been out on the street actively standing up for immigrants communities. Whether or not people think he is sincere, he picked the right side.

That's my take. It's also the stuff that's not captured in the media and on these platforms. The national media isn't capturing these moments, but folks in BIPOC and organizing communities in Maine are seeing that.

He doesn't have a job.

Much social media "discussion" about Platner's bone fides (with a distinct lean towards, "He's Fetterman all over again!") and defense of his character (excuses?)

Maybe that's all useful. IDK.

The fact that his message/platform is VERY popular - in "purple" Maine - seems overlooked.

His current messages may be popular, but they have not always been (even recently).
