In 2012, Bandai Namco released a survey asking players which of the styles below they would like to see in an upcoming Pac-Man game, as well as which platform they play casual games on.

Choice D would serve as the basis for the characters' looks in the resulting mobile puzzler, Pac-Man Monsters.
