On this day in 1943, an explosion at a US Army storage barn destroyed an entire block in Dawson Creek, BC. The barn stored telephone wire, nails, wooden crossbar arms and tires. Dynamite was also stored with percussion caps. The explosion killed five and injured 150 people.
